We build our world on “I am”.

I, together with you and every other I, create the world.

Starting Course - Section 7
Conclusion and Next Steps

Creation

Morality and Reality

How do you and I get there?

How can we be happy?

How can we create a flourishing civilization on this planet?

It starts with acknowledging the most basic, fundamental, absolute truth of you

Calm Sea_edited_edited.jpg

“I am” is true of every human being.

“I am” is true for every human being.

“I am” is every human being.

This is where the full phrase is born.

“I am who am.”

Everyone exist as an expression of “I am”.

Other human beings exist, as does the universe,

in the objective, the scientific, and the perceptual way

in which you and I experience others and the world around us.

Only, there are doubts, or probabilities, associated with the certainty

and nature of the universe and existence

outside of you or me.

While it can be fun and interesting

to take the thinking exercise of doubting the reality of everything to extremes,

it does not change the reality of the human experience.

There is a world outside of me,

I just cannot be absolutely, 100% certain of its existence or its nature,

as I can be 100% certain of my own existence.

However, it is very important to recognize that next thing I can know

with only a small fraction less than 100% certainty

is that other human beings exist.

I exist, and I am the product of two other human beings.

Of this we can be very certain.

I am

Everyone who ever was,

who currently is

and who will ever be,

finds being in “I am.”

I am everyone.

Not in the sense that somehow I am every person,

but in the sense that every person is, or exists, exactly as “I am”.

The universe exists one person at a time, and it happens to one person at a time.

Knowing with absolute certainty that “I am”

leads to the knowledge that every other human being

exists in the same universe,

in exactly the same way.

Every other human being can declare “I am” with absolute 100% certainty!

Every other human being “is” in the same sense that “I am”.

“I am” aware of others “like me” and connected to me,

and yet, who are somehow separate from me.

Every interaction with another human being

must be based on the fact that “I am” applies to everyone.

If I do not acknowledge this fact, then I deny my own existence, that “I am”.

The universe exists one person at a time.

It exists for only one person at a time,

yet collectively for every person, in every moment.

Every individual person’s existence creates the universe.

This is the most significant fact in the universe,

and is the core of the universe,

the very essence of existence.

It is through being,

“I am”,

that everything is.

At the same time,

and equally essential to the nature of the universe is that fact that:

no one single person’s existence

is more significant than any other person’s existence.

“I am” is true of every person

and is the fundamental creative element and force of the universe.

Every human being’s “being” is equal to every other person’s “being”.

Equality

This leads to the essential belief necessary

for the happiness and flourishing of every individual human being,

and all human beings collectively,

that is:

all human beings are not just created equal,

but are equal parts of the universe,

equally essential to the existence of the universe.

and as such,

every human being has a right to exist,

which is equal to every other human being's right to exist,

because every human being equally creates the universe.

The right began, or rather,

the right begins, when the universe begins,

which is when the human being comes into existence.

My equality began that first moment when I was created,

when I was a new strand of DNA,

when I was one cell, my first or many cells to come,

and I created the universe around me.

The same is true for you.

In your first moments,

when you were created and were one cell,

your equality began.

Every human being who was, is, or will be,

started in their first strand of DNA in their first cell.

Each and every human has a worth, and equality, a value,

a place in the universe which is equal to every other human being.

The worth or value of “I am” exists from beginning to end.

Every interaction I have must be measured

in relation to every other equal “I” in the world.   â€‹

Ethics

Every moral principle must be based upon this fundamental principle of existence:

“I am”.

It is the very tangible, very real foundation

of all notions of human interaction and moral principles or rules,

from the Golden Rule to do unto others as I would like to do unto you,

to ideas about the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people.

“I am” is foundational to humans, human existence and human society.

Ethics is the study of human moral behavior,

the study of what is right and wrong, good or bad,

and the principles of what we ought to do.

If something is ethical, it is the right or good thing a person ought to do.

Any actions, words, principles, rules, laws, and other social structure or institution

based on the way of being and treating others, found in “I am”,

will be ethical.

How I “ought” to act towards others or myself,

stems from, or originates in,

the fundamental principle or law of the universe that “I am”.

“I am” defines the way the universe is and ought to be.

“I am” is a principle more fundamental than any law or principle

of physics, biology, chemistry or other branch of science.

It also underlies every mandate from heaven.

The equality found in “I am” unites every human in a common principle,

as well uniting science, society and religion in a common core.  â€‹

In a sense,

while the world happens to one person at a time,

we do not create what we generally think of as the physical world.

However, through our actions, our treatment of others,

we create a very real part of the world,

as real as any physical part of the world.

I create the social and moral world.

You create the social and moral world.

We create the social and moral world.

Our creative power is integrally connected to our happiness.

Next Steps

I hope you will join me in some of the other courses on this website.

I recommend that you take the course on Human Excellence next

followed by the Leadership course.

The purpose of this starting section is to briefly introduce you,

the student or visitor to this website,

explain the main purpose of the website,

and to get you excited and interested in learning more.

The website is about us; you, me and everyone who inhabits this planet of ours.

Its purpose is simple,

to help you be happy,

to help all of us to be happy, and to live together in peace and harmony.

The learning courses, found in the Learning Arena portion of the website,

are just organized trains of thought.

Hopefully they will give you some ideas you can live by

and put into action in your life which will help you be happy.

Other parts of the website contain thoughts and ideas about the many different areas of life.

These ideas will hopefully help you maintain your happiness

and increase your understanding of this amazing experience we all are having

together here on earth.

Happiness is a simple word for flourishing, deep satisfaction, harmony,

inner and outer peace, joy, contentment, self-worth,

and all the many ideas which revolve around the notion of you, me

and everyone living a good life together.

I hope in this first course you

learned about yourself and obtain a deeper understanding of you,

the significance of your special place in the universe,

the creative power you have,

and how you create your own world.

Imagine the love and good wishes a mother or caregiver has for the child’s life,

the hopes and dreams for a good future,

born of the love of the child, for you.

We all want the world to be a better place.

We want to be happy and for those close to us to be happy.

Everyone wants to have a good life.

Ethics is about getting along with others,

It is about how we treat each other.

It is about making the world a good place to live,

for ourselves and others.

Imagine what the world would be like, could be like,

if we treated everyone like we treat that person who is most special to us,

the person you love and cherish the most.

When you look at others,

imagine them as a newborn child,

loved and cared for by their mother.

Imagine what that mother wants for her newborn child,

how she wants you to treat the child.

Treat everyone like you would like your very special person to be treated.

The world happens to only one person at a time.

To change the world, you only need to change one life.

To make the world a better place, you only need to try to make one person happy.

Do that with every person, and the rest will follow.

Please join me in the next course on Human Excellence

I also hope you began to grasp

the importance of each and every other individual human life, and

understand that your significance applies to every human being,

and that you have the power to create the world for others.

I also hope I have motivated you to act on this understanding,

this self-knowledge

and create happiness for yourself and others.

I hope you learned how that collectively,

through this knowledge and these actions,

we can create vibrant, flourishing, and joyful life on this planet.

Closing Thought

You have the power of creation.

Learning how to use that power is what ethics is all about.

I find that a simple way of thinking about ethics,

and how to deal with other people, moral situations and decisions

is to always think about someone you are close to,

someone you love very, very much.

Maybe that person who is special to you is a parent, a brother or sister, grandparent,

or maybe someone who raised you,

or an aunt, uncle or cousin

or someone who has helped you through life,

or a spouse or child,

or a very good friend.

Think of someone who means a lot to you,

someone special.

Picture that person for a moment,

visualize them and think about how you feel about them.

What do you want for them in life?

How do you want them to be treated by others?

You care about what happens to them in life.

You hope that they are treated well by others,

that good things happen to them, and

that they are happy and have a good life.

Now think about that special someone who loves you.

Who is it?

Is it your mom or dad or someone who raised you or cared for you above all else?

We all lived the first part of our lives inside another human being, inside our mother.

We were all infants at one point in our lives.

You spent the first part of your life inside your mother,

and then were an infant in the arms of you mother or someone,

right after you were born.
